Description
Burnside gallery presents two abstract painters who share a common language in their feeling for water and earth. Inherent in their painting is what it feels like to be in a Greek garden or in the breeze on a beach in Skye.
The paintings of each are built up in many different layers so that they shimmer. Colours are very carefully chosen in their work; Carol says, My aim is to make work that creates a restorative experience for the viewer. Illumination and light appear as a recurrent theme …
And both are concerned with the effect their paintings will have on the viewer; Alan says, In this series produced during the last two years of lockdowns I unconsciously ended up with work that I found reflected a desire that many of us felt or wanted to feel; including the feeling of a slower, quieter, less complicated world, and a reconnecting with nature.
