A thrilling night of darts at Selkirk Rugby Club saw Papa ‘Bullseye’ Pettie crowned champion after a dramatic comeback victory in the final.
Pettie faced Ethan ‘Electric’ Wilson in a closely contested final that had spectators on edge. Wilson started strongly, racing into a 2–0 lead and putting Pettie under real pressure. However, showing great composure and resilience, Pettie fought back superbly to take three consecutive legs and seal a memorable 3–2 victory.
Reflecting on his win, Pettie said: “It’s been a tough year both on and off the oche, so to come through tonight means a lot—especially having my wife there in the crowd backing me every step of the way.”
16 rugby boys took to the stage in a highly contested tournament cheered on by a packed crowd.
But Pettie’s route to the title was equally impressive. He opened his campaign with a win over Josh ‘The Woodcutter’ Welsh in the first round, before overcoming Grant ‘Aki’ Paxton in the second. In the semi-final, he produced another strong display to defeat Monroe ‘Smooth Hand’ Job and book his place in the final.

A special thanks goes to Ethan Wilson for organising a fantastic event, to MC for the evening Rhuaridh Murray for keeping the atmosphere lively, and to Kelly Riddell for her invaluable technical support throughout the night
The tournament showcased high-quality darts across the board, but it was Pettie’s determination and ability to perform under pressure that ultimately set him apart, completing a remarkable comeback to lift the trophy. Well done Papa.
