A new Chair for Selkirk Colonial Society

After four years as Chairman and five as secretary, Ian Clapperton has stood down from his role with Selkirk Colonial Society. At the Society AGM held on Thursday 12th March, James Bunyan was unanimously elected as the new Chairman. James (Jimmy) Bunyan was Colonial Society Standard Bearer in 2007 when he was living in the USA. Since his return to the town, he has actively supported the Society, and in particular as our Flag Officer, taking responsibility for representing the Society at casting practices and then providing tuition to the Standard Bearer on their arrival from overseas.

At the same meeting a Colonial Society Standard Bearer for 2020 was appointed however in the light of the worldwide pandemic, the decision was made to make no public announcement until the situation becomes clearer.
